It does not offer medical or psychological advice. Viewers should make their own independent inquiries and judgments before acting on any information it contains.

2. The website and its owners or agents are not entering a professional relationship with the viewer. Nor should the information provided be used as a substitute for needed care from a licensed health or mental health professional.

3. Light or Energy based work frees and harmonizes a person’s energies to stimulate innate health-promoting mechanisms and restore the body’s natural state of well-being. It does not attempt to diagnose, treat, or cure illness.

4. Energy Psychology is an umbrella term for a number of personal development approaches that focus on the meridians, the chakras, or other energy systems. As such, energy psychology is a derivative of energy medicine. Rather than diagnosing or treating illnesses of body or mind, these approaches target energy patterns in body and brain to optimize the person's well-being.  Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) or “Tapping” is a popular energy psychology approach.

5. Energy modalities are considered experimental by most members of the medical profession. Yet, “Medical professionals are finding that when they practice the ‘new medicine’ their patients heal faster, leave the hospital sooner, and do better once they get home.” (Bill Moyers, Healing and the Mind, Inside Front Cover)

8. Any exploration of one's past or current difficulties—common practices within energy psychology as well as many other personal development approaches—may evoke disquieting memories or emotions. While these may be markers on the path of personal evolution, the individual undertaking such exploration assumes any and all associated risks.

9. Although the energy modalities presented on this website are widely viewed as non-invasive and benign interventions into the body's energy system, any procedure that frees energies that have been blocked may cause mild reactions such as nausea, headaches, or temporary pains as the energies begin to move and reset themselves. While such reactions should be noted and common-sense assessments made, they often indicate that the procedures are working and benefits will persist after the discomfort has passed. It is also possible that a condition such as a cold or the flu was incubating, so it might appear that a cause-effect relationship was involved when it was actually a matter of coincidence.

10. By viewing this website you agree to forever fully release, indemnify, and hold harmless, Tamara Laing and Hope For a Better World and its owners, consultants, volunteers and others associated with Tamara Laing from any and all claims, demands, causes of action liability, loss, whatsoever and for any damage or injury, personal, emotional, psychological, financial or otherwise, which you may incur arising at any time out of or in relation to your use of this website and the information and other materials contained herein. FOR MY CLIENTS REVIEW AND SIGNATURE

Some state boards in the USA have addressed complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) practices by certain standards of care within a "defined scope of practice." Utah has not - so I have posted a statement according to what other Health Freedom states require.

Client Informed Consent and Disclosure Statement

Hope For a Better World
Tamara Laing, Master Rapid Eye Technician

The following information is to enable an informed choice about a decision to engage my servicesPlease read carefully and let me know if there is any part you do not understand.  I work with clients in person as well as by phone, Skype, or Facetime. Our work together includes your intention on what to accomplish.  Although I will share my skills and abilities, my work with you is only a resource.  As an intentional and conscious participant in your growth, you will ultimately take all responsibility for any actions related to your health and well-being.

Services Offered

In my practice I use integrative techniques which you have the option of using individually or collectively as we work together.  I offer Rapid Eye Technology, Deep Emotion Release, Theta, Emotional Freedom Technique, and Vibrational Energy Work in sessions (collectively “Energy Work”). I may also offer use of a household device called iTeraCare for scalar energy and terahertz frequencies.

Energy Work is a collective term used to refer to a variety of treatments that are based on the use and modification of subtle energy fields. Biochemist and Nobel Prize winner for Medicine, Albert Szent-Gyori, MD said: “In every culture and in every medical tradition before ours, healing was accomplished by moving energy.” (Introduction to a Submolecular Biology, 135) Re-balancing one’s energy field is one of the oldest forms of medicine. The prevailing premise of Energy Work is that the flow and balance of the body’s electromagnetic and more subtle energies are important for physical, spiritual, mental, and emotional health, and for fostering well-being.

Theoretical Approach

Energy is understood as the life force energy that is in every living thing.  It is believed that proper flow and balance of life force energy maintains health and vitality of mind, body and spirit. When our energy is balanced and aligned, our body’s innate ability to be well is free flowing. “Healing involves a strengthening of the underlying integrity of an individual’s human energies and their repatterning in a healthier way.  . . . One individual… can help another by assisting in the repatterning of their energy and in the reestablishment of its rhythmic flow.” (Susan Wagner, M.D., A Doctor’s Guide to Therapeutic Touch)

Techniques of energy work address the energetic foundation of life - which is light.
Cutting edge science from Fritz Albert Popp shows that biophoton light regulates all body systems. Energy work aims to increase one's capacity to receive this mentally and physically nourishing light. Energy Work considers consciousness as an influence on health. There is an energetic influence of thoughts, beliefs, emotions, and other afflicting energies on the body that promote either wellness or dis-ease. "When we clear out negative energy it makes a space for this [spiritual] light to be drawn in and reclaimed," explains Dr. Ranae Johnson.

As an intuitive practitioner of Energy Work, I use gospel principles such as forgiveness, gratitude and praise as well as the technology I have trained in to discharge hurtful or blocked emotional energy to balance my clients’ energy systems and help them regain their spiritual light. The technologies I am trained in often originated from spiritual insight. These technologies do not work at the level of the physical body as is customary in traditional (allopathic) medicine.

Belief in the existence of a universal field of energy today is similar to the world of 100 years ago not believing there were any galaxies besides the milky way galaxy.  When stronger instruments came out that could measure the existence of other galaxies – everyone’s perceptions changed.  Today, we have scientists such as William Tiller and Fritz Albert Popp beginning to measure the energies and light involved in energy work. William Tiller explains,
“There are many energies involved in light.  There is, of course, electromagnetic light, which everyone knows about.  The coarsest level of the human body is all about electromagnetic energy.  So you can use light in the way it's used in energy medicine, especially on acupuncture points, to systemically provide healing in the body.  Or you can go to a higher level... magnetoelectric energy.  That has an aspect of light as well.  And at all of these higher dimensional levels there is a light which is the communicator between the aspects of substance at that level of being.  So, when Eric [Pearl] talks about Reconnective Healing, then really what is happening is that many kinds of energy and light are flowing through the healer and into the healee.  In other words, what we're talking about is bringing it beyond just what has been classically known as energy healing into a broader spectrum of energy, light and information.
Interestingly, we now know that the body heals through frequency, vibration and resonance and it’s communicated through light. So the fact the Reconnective frequencies contain an element of light is very significant. (William Tiller, PhD)
My first book, Healing Arts - A Gift from God, reveals that life force energy has been compared to intelligence in the universal light of Christ by many (including Joseph Smith, John. A. Widtsoe, B. H. Roberts, Joseph Fielding Smith, Orson Pratt and others.) Although there is no consensus on how or why Energy Psychology or other branches of Energy Medicine work, I believe that all healing comes from Jesus Christ, the Master Healer, who is "the light and the life of the world."

Understanding characteristics of intelligence in the Light of Christ explains much of what may initially be mind boggling to a beginner. Dr. Phil Mollon speaks of this confusion.
Many phenomena familiar to energy psychologists violate the conventional scientific paradigm of reality. They include healing through intention, mental effects on the physical realm, healing at a distance, proxy healing, and all manner of other non-local effects. As William Tiller observes, the human energy system appears to function as a gateway to a realm of reality that is responsive to human intention in a way that ordinary physical reality, as studied by conventional science, is not. Sometimes phenomena and procedures are presented at energy psychology workshops that profoundly violate conventional paradigms without this being acknowledged explicitly. This can be confusing to participants and unhelpful when they subsequently try to convey what has been learned to others in the wider world.  . . . . Some observations are not congruent with conventional principles of physics, biology, psychology, or other sciences. (Phil Mollon, PhD; "Ethics - the Heart and Shadow of Energy Psychology," Part 2, https://acepblog.org

I have learned that science, religion and facilitators of energy modalities all talk about principles used in Energy Work while using completely different sets of vocabulary words. Confusion for beginners may simply be an issue of semantics.

If you have questions or concerns about the nature of the theories and methods I use, please feel free to ask for further resources or references.  My clients seek to feel peace within, to regain a positive mental attitude and to manage situational stress.  They seek self-confidence, to overcome fears and to forgive the past. I specialize in helping my clients find balance with innovative energy techniques that have been shown to help release the energetic impact of stressful life events.

Beginners are not required to believe in this type of work, the only thing needed is a willingness to try it. Gary Craig wrote,
“You do not have to believe in these techniques for them to work. Some people mistakenly conclude that EFT gets results simply because people believe in it. The fact is that people rarely believe in these techniques at first. They are almost always skeptical, at least to a degree. Despite the usual lack of belief by newcomers, the results obtained by EFT occur undiminished. People make improvements in spite of their skepticism.”  (Gary Craig, The EFT Manual, 32)
Scientific Research

Although Energy Work appears to have promising mental, spiritual, and physical benefits, it has yet to be accepted by the Western academic, medical, and psychological communities and is considered experimental.  This field of help is often misunderstood.(This certainly leads to some interesting interactions with other people as well as local church leaders who are not aware of the huge paradigm shift going on the world about health and healing.)

David Feinstien talks openly to lay people about science and energy modalities HERE

Please understand that there is a growing body of scientific evidence supporting Energy Medicine. Phil Mollon, PhD, DCEP, is a British psychoanalyst and clinical psychologist. He is or was president of the Association for Comprehensive Energy Psychology and chair of the ACEP Ethics Committee. He wrote:

Energy psychology has over 60 published studies in refereed journals, 20 Randomized Controlled Trials, with 98+% of findings supporting the efficacy of energy psychology. Of the studies looking at follow-up from 3 months to 2 years, 100% found that the gains held. There is even a meta-analysis[*] showing medium effect sizes. In a world of over 400 therapies, most of which have no research, these findings place energy psychology in the top 10% of all therapies in terms of research on effectiveness. Furthermore, the research on energy psychology approaches suggests that not only is energy psychology effective, it may be more effective than many other approaches, especially for trauma.
Energy psychology methods cannot yet be described as established and generally accepted by the mainstream. It is truthful to say that: a) EP methods, in one form or another, have been used for over 40 years; b) evidence of efficacy is substantial and increasing; c) many people report benefit; d) the methods are similar to, and can be combined with, elements of other [therapies]. In any particular case, we cannot know in advance whether an EP modality will help the person – some are not helped, for reasons that may remain unknown. Of course, all these things are true of more conventional approaches as well. ("Ethics - the Heart and Shadow of Energy Psychology," Part 1 of 2, https://acepblog.org/2017/01/06/)

[P.S. That information already needs updated. There are 5 meta analysises! Here is  newer, key information from ACEP: See the quick facts sheet HERE ]

“While there are over 400 identified forms of psychotherapy, many have little or no research to validate them. Energy psychology, the overarching field of which EFT is one method, is now both evidence-based and in the top 10% in terms of published research for psychotherapy.”  (Peta Stapleton, PhD, “The Energy Field,” Spring 2021) Dr. Stapleton also points out:

"Finally, there is what is called a “translational gap”, where any new therapies take some time before they are considered standard care. The American Institute of Medicine says this takes about 17 years and only 20 percent of new therapies are accepted in mainstream. It is also suggested that it takes a decade for practitioners to adopt new approaches into their clinical practice after they have been approved (Dilling et al., Ploeg et al.)."  (Peta Stapleton, PhD, “The Energy Field,” Spring 2021)

Those of us who have been led to energy healing and energy psychology are simply ahead of our time! And here is a sampling of research found at the National Library of Medicine at NIH.  It said in one place: "The National Institutes of Health's National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health (NCCIH, formerly the National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine) currently includes biofield therapies in its strategic plan in the mind and body therapies category, an area with funding priority. "  HERE is a link to one study.

There is largely no specific regulation of licensing for Energy Work facilitators. However, professional certification is often available. Although I have experience since 2004 in Energy Work, I am not licensed in the State of Utah or any other US state as a physician, psychologist, or other licensed health care provider, nor are my services licensed by the State of Utah or any other US state.

Under Sections 2053.5 and 2053.6 of California’s Business and Professions Code, I can offer you my services in California, subject to the requirements and restrictions that are described fully in the attached Client Information Sheet - incorporated herein by reference and made part of this Client Informed Consent and Disclosure Statement.  Whether providing my services to a group or to an individual, you understand that I do not provide diagnosis or treatment of physical or mental conditions, nor am I licensed by any state as a healing arts practitioner.

Outcome Expectations / Risks and Benefits

The intuitive methods I use are considered "integrative" and appear to result in positive outcomes and clients have found them to be effective and beneficial. However, it is impossible to guarantee any specific results or, for that matter, any results at all, regarding your goals using any of the Energy Work techniques or any products I offer, and I do not say or guarantee how you will personally respond to any of the Energy Work techniques.

Reports regarding Energy Work show no significant side effects when used appropriately.  However, please be advised that in our work together it may be possible that you will experience some emotional distress and/or physical discomfort, or that unresolved memories may surface related to your life experiences, which could be perceived as negative side effects.  Emotions or physical discomfort may continue to arise after a session and you are encouraged to discuss such emotions or physical discomfort with me and, if appropriate, I can refer you to a licensed health care professional for further assistance.

Other Important Information

I do not practice medicine, chiropractic, naturopathy, homeopathy, psychology or physical therapy.  I am not a physician (M.D. or D.O.), nurse (R.N. or L.P.N.), nurse-practitioner, psychologist, chiropractor (D.C.), naturopath (D.N.M.), homeopath (M.D.H.) or licensed therapist.  I am not licensed as a health care provider by any state.  My work with you as an Energy Work practitioner is not intended to be used to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease or psychological disorder; our sessions together do not replace the advice and/or services of health care professionals.

You agree to consult with your health care provider for any specific health care problems and understand that I may suggest you contact your professional health care provider if I believe it is advisable.  In addition, you understand that any information shared during our sessions is not to be considered a recommendation that you stop seeing any of your health care professionals or using prescribed medication, if any, without consulting with your health care professional, even if it appears that such medication or treatment is unnecessary.

You understand that at all times, I recommend that you do not alter or change any prescription medications you may be taking without full consultation with your medical doctor.  You also understand that I do not offer diagnosis, treatment or advice of pathological conditions, nor do I prescribe drugs or medication.  You also understand statements I make to you have not been evaluated by the United States Food and Drug Administration, any regulatory body of any state or local government, or any licensing authority, and that nothing I undertake or do is intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease or disorder.  (The Healy Resonance device, however, is FDA cleared.) You agree to take full responsibility for your self-care in the emotional, mental, physical, and spiritual dimensions of your life.  You agree to contact me directly if you have any concerns about your experiences with your Energy Work sessions and/or our relationship as practitioner and client.

Training and Education

I have taken this advice, “This is the belief and doctrine of the Latter-day Saints. Learn everything that the children of men know, and be prepared for the most refined society upon the face of the earth, then improve upon this until we are prepared and permitted to enter the society of the blessed.” (Brigham Young, qtd. in Journal of Discourses 16:11).  Hence, I do not always practice modalities below exactly as they were taught. I alter parts of them, such as wording, to align fully with my religious beliefs.

Rapid Eye Technology "(RET) is a technical, educational and spiritual model of releasing trapped trauma and stress. RET utilizes blinking, eye movements, breath work, imagery, stress reduction techniques and energy work to facilitate the release of stressful emotional, mental, and physical patterns. RET facilitates release through a safe, natural process of emotional discharge that seems to simulate REM sleep while the client remains awake." https://rapideyetechnology.com/
RET facilitators do not diagnose or counsel. We do a process of movement of eyes with verbal input to process and release trauma without reliving incidents.  Elements of NLP and EFT may be included. Much of the trapped energy comes out the eyes (as well as the breath...) Many clients experience tingling of the hands and feet or other signs of releasing.  In addition to RET release work, "The other half of RET is education based upon 7 universal principles to successfully manage and understand life.” (Ranae Johnson, PhD; Reclaim Your Light Through the Miracle of Rapid Eye Technology, 1, 27-28) Clients are taught how to change their thoughts and perceptions... so as to avoid re-creating the same patterns again.

Deep Emotion Release (DER) expanded and refined by Tamara Laing, MRET is also a method of releasing through the eyes. "The light of the body is the eye." (Matt. 6:22) DER involves gazing deeply into the eyes with non-judgment using specific verbal cues and intentions. It is an educational and spiritual process of connecting to the truth of who we really are. It begins by using Neurological Integration, as taught by Dr. Kenneth Fabian of New Mexico. Secondly, Deep Emotion Release involves moving up in consciousness, which is outlined on Dr. David Hawkins’ chart titled, “Map of Consciousness.” Clients learn to voice forgiveness, to change perceptions and voice gratitude for the "silver lining" found in trial, and perhaps even praise for priceless lessons learned from the ‘worst’ that has happened.

Vibrational Energy Work  Richard Gerber, MD defines Vibrational Medicine as, “That healing philosophy which aims to treat the whole person, ie. the mind/body/spirit complex by delivering measured quanta of frequency-specific energy to the human multidimensional system. Vibrational medicine seeks to heal the physical body by integrating and balancing the higher energetic systems which create the physical/cellular patterns of manifestation.”  (Vibrational Medicine, 565)

Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT)  Emofree.com says,"EFT (often known as Tapping), is a universal healing tool that can provide impressive results for physical, emotional, and performance issues. While related to acupuncture, EFT does not use needles. Instead, [it uses] a simple two-pronged process wherein we (1) mentally "tune in" to specific issues while (2) stimulating certain meridian points on the body by tapping on them with our fingertips. Properly done, EFT appears to balance disturbances in the meridian system and thus often reduces the conventional therapy procedures.”

ThetaHealing is a meditative technique conducted while the client and practitioner are in a theta brainwave state. It teaches how to "use one's own natural intuition, relying upon unconditional love of the Creator of all that is to do the actual 'work.'" (https://thetahealing.com) It is described as a training method for mind, body, and spirit to clear limiting beliefs and live life with positive thoughts.

Reiki is a Japanese word that means spiritually guided life force energy. Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that assists the body in creating an environment to facilitate healing. "Reiki is not affiliated with any particular religion or practice. Unlike massage therapy, no articles of clothing are removed and a client is always fully clothed.  A session can either be hands-on, where a practitioner will apply a light touch during the session, or hands-off where they will hold their hands slightly above your body…moving through specific standard hand positions."  (https://iarp.org/what-is-reiki/)  I do not offer Reiki sessions to the public! In the state of Utah, doing any hands on Reiki requires a Massage Therapist license.

Quantum Touch affordably teaches "how to focus, amplify, and direct life force energy, for a wide range of benefits." (https://quantumtouch.com/)  It emphasizes using the power of love, intention and the breath to create a high energy field to surround areas of concern. I do not offer Quantum Touch sessions to the public. I am grateful that Reiki and Quantum Touch taught me I could actually FEEL subtle energies with my hands. This was an early witness to me that subtle Energy was real.

I turned down a 4-year full ride academic scholarship to Arizona State University in order to attend Brigham Young University on a lesser scholarship. I attended BYU 1979 - 1981 and then began my most important calling as a mother.  I was unable at that time to determine what I was to study.  Years later, I was led by the spirit to what I feel I was meant to both study and research: religious principles underneath the premises of Energy Work. I received my Master Rapid Eye Technician certificate in July of 2006 from the Rapid Eye Institute in Oregon.

I completed DNA 2 Theta Healing from Russell Loveland, DC and Jessica Daniel, DC in Feb. 2004 in the greater Salt Lake City, UT area. I completed the Quantum Touch Course taught by Richard Gordon in Feb. 2005 via his video course hosted by Jan Howell in North Ogden, UT.  I received the Seichim Master Degree in the Reiki Seichim System of Natural Healing from Sylvia Laing in SLC, UT in 2004 doing further class work until March 2018.  I was personally taught Vibrational Medicine by Joan Erickson and took a class based upon her work from her niece, Tonya Laing Cox, in March 2009 in Mendon, UT.  I completed the Emotional Freedom Techniques Level 1 Training from Garland Landrith, PhD in Sandy, UT in 2010.

I have taken numerous other classes from teachers including Sabrina Potter, Courtney Beardall, Rebecca Rocque, RaeLee Steinacker, Cliff and Judy Dunston, Kisi Watkins, Jan Graf, the late Kurt Soderquist, JaeLeen Smith and several others listed on my Linkedin.com page here.  I have been working with clients since 2006. I am a past member of the International Society for the Study of Subtle Energies and Energy Medicine (ISEEM). I joined the Association for Comprehensive Energy Psychology (ACEP) in February 2018.

I believe my own personal study of LDS insight on the Light of Christ, Truth, Spiritual Gifts, and scriptural roots of illness also provides a level of understanding which I apply in my Energy Work. I teach clients to cast out evil spirits themselves. I know that true principles underlying Energy Work derive from the gospel of Jesus Christ.

CLIENT INFORMATION SHEET

In September 2003, California passed California Senate Bill SB-577, which affects the practice of complementary and alternative forms of health care in California.  California is one of only eight US states to have adopted a “health freedom” law.  The others are New Mexico, Arizona, Louisiana, Rhode Island, Minnesota, Oklahoma and Idaho, and the laws of each state differ substantially from each other.  The fact that all other states of the US do not have such “health freedom” legislation does not mean that complementary and alternative forms of health care are necessarily illegal in those states, but it does mean that those states have not adopted by formal legislation the same rights as are set forth in legislation in any of the “health freedom” states listed above.

THE CALIFORNIA LAW

http://www.californiahealthfreedom.com/californiah/htdocs/documents/our_bill.asp

Under the California law, (SB-577), alternative health care practitioners may provide and advertise their services to California citizens if they comply with certain requirements specified within the bill which has now become part of California law under sections 2053.5 and 2053.6 of California’s Business and Professions Code.

Sections 2053.5 and 2053.6 of California’s Business and Professions Code provide the following:

A.  Provide access to complementary and alternative health care practitioners.  You must be given information about the nature of treatment and the practitioner’s qualifications.  Please ask your practitioner any question you may have about the treatment options they offer.  Ask if your practitioner has been certified by a professional organization and if they belong to any professional organizations.  Please tell your physician if you are receiving any alternative treatments.  You can also request that your licensed and unlicensed health care providers communicate with each other and work collaboratively to meet your health goals.

B.  Requires unlicensed complementary and alternative health care providers to follow certain guidelines and to refrain from certain practices.

C.  Specifies that unlicensed complementary and alternative health care practitioners are NOT allowed to:
-Perform any form of surgery or any procedure that punctures your skin or harmfully invades your body.
-Use X-ray radiation
-Prescribe prescription drugs, or recommending that you discontinue drugs that were prescribed by a licensed physician.
-Set fractures
-Treat wounds with electrotherapy
-Put you at risk of great bodily harm, serious physical or mental illness, or death
-Imply in any way that he/she is a licensed physician.

A person who advertises any services that are not unlawful under Section 2051, 2052, or 2053 pursuant to subdivision (a) shall disclose in the advertisement that he or she is not licensed by the state as a healing arts practitioner.

D.  Specifies that complementary and alternative health care practitioners MUST DO the following things:

- Provide you with a statement, written in plain language that includes the following information: (1) that they are not a licensed physician and that their services are not licensed by the state; (2) a brief and clear description of the kind of services they provide and the reasoning behind it; and (3) a description of their education, training, and experience.

- Ask you to sign and acknowledge that you received the above written statement and provide you with a copy of it.  They must also keep a copy of your signed acknowledgment for three (3) years.

APPLICATION OF THE CALIFORNIA LAW OUTSIDE CALIFORNIA

Even though the requirements of California law do not apply outside the state of California, I believe that every client should be afforded the same rights and privileges that California residents are provided, even if they do not reside in California.  Accordingly, I have drafted the attached “Client Informed Consent & Disclosure Statement” for your review and signature.  If you have any questions about the contents of that “Client Informed Consent & Disclosure Statement” or the information set forth above, please do not hesitate to discuss those questions with me.  Even if you reside outside California, I cannot begin the provision of any services for you until you review and sign the attached “Client Informed Consent and Disclosure Statement.”

ARIZONA LAW

I'm very happily married with 5 great kids and 7 grandchildren. I am fascinated by the science behind subtle energy therapies because they made such a HUGE difference for my family. I am passionate about researching how the field of energy medicine fits with the gospel of Christ. I find great joy in being an Energy facilitator myself, helping people make peace with their past, releasing unresolved emotions and bringing light to dark places. I work in the healing arts and know that Jesus Christ is the source of all healing.
